Short-Cut Tips
Fast dial up during passcode locked
Click the [Enter Passcode] Interface’s bottom left corner “Emergency call”, you can dial out any telephone number directly

Punctuation input Method
Hold down the fingertips with “123” key, you have to slide to enter the punctuation on and then let go, the symbol required will be auto entered, and the keyboard will be automatically returned to the letters’ keyboard.

Safari Fast Browsing
For page up and down on the Safari browser, just only need to double click on the blank region at the corresponding direction. For example, if go to the next page, just double click the blank region at the bottom of the page.

If want to back to the top of the page during browsing by Safari, click on the top of the screen at any time, the page will automatically jump to the top and show the address bar at the same time.

Fast browsing on commonly used website
For a quick view of some commonly used website, during browsing with Safari, click “+” at the bottom of the screen, & choose “Add to Home Screen”, after a few seconds, and so on until the web symbol appeared on the page, click “Add”, you will be able to add the website icon into the home screen. Then you needn’t to enter Safari, but can rapid access to that website by click the icon directly.

Spotlight Search
To quickly locate the content across the device, just simply right flick from Home screen to access Spotlight and then, to search for a term, application or content across multiple applications, e.g. Calendar, iPod, Mail and Contacts etc.

In addition, if search for contacts, you should search the contacts by name to locate their phone number in contact record.

You can go to Setting > General > Home > Search Results to manage the content Spotlights searches, along with the display order.


Battery Saving Tips
How to saving the battery
If high usage on listening music and online browsing, a charge that can be able to use about 6 hours.

For light usage, just for phone call, receive email, and listening music during go to and back from work, a charge that can be able to use about 12 hours.

Don’t be afraid that the WIFI will consuming the battery during stand-by mode, because when you lock it after 20 seconds, the WIFI will be automatically turned off

Below are some tips on saving the battery:

Wi-Fi

- Setting > Wi-Fi > Off

Bluetooth

- Setting > General > Bluetooth > Off

Multi-Touch

- Click the Sleep / wake button on the iPhone
- Setting > General > Auto Lock > 1 minute

Web browsing Tips
Browsing with Safari

After open a page, hold down any hyperlink on the page and does not let it go, it then will prompt out a small pop-up, which will show the address of that hyperlink.

iPhone’s safari browsing web pages are sometimes encountered that some area of the page is allow to roll, but when you using your finger to scroll the page, you will find that the whole page is being rolled, rather than you want to roll in that area. The solution is to use two fingers on that area and scroll.

Turn the iPhone to horizontal, click on the address bar or any areas that requesting to input text, a large horizontal keyboard will be displayed. It is bigger than a vertical keyboard; you can enter the key easier.

In the bottom of the screen, the iconis a multi-page icon, it shows the previous browsing pages,& means that has been opened for 3 pages,click it to enter and can slide a finger to choose other page. In the multi-page mode, click on the upper left corner of the little-red-cross can turn off the page.


Always jump back to home screen during browsing
Safari may be, there are too many cache information, clean and remove cookie data on a regular basis can be effective in reducing the opportunity to pop

Auto-Fill Function
You can turn on the [Use Contact Info] function in Setting > Safari > Auto-Fill, system will auto fill your contact info to the online form. You can also turn on the [Name & Passwords] function, then system will remember your login id & password when you accessing some websites which is no safeguard configuration.

Fast Input Tips

Fast input punctuation
After input a sentence, simple click the [Space Bar] twice times, the full stop will be automatically pop up.

Common Latin alphabet
Holding down the English alphabet onto a keyboard (such as o or e), a similar Latin alphabet will be pop-up.

Cut, Copy and Paste Function
To quickly select, edit and move text and images, you can tap and hold or double-tap to display cut, copy and paste options. This function can be applied in Notes, Messages, Mail and Safari which can easily edit and transfer the selected text or content or URL between applications.

Select : Tap Select to display grab points, or use Select All to automatically select all content.

Cut, copy and paste : Once you select content, select Cut or Copy. You can then Paste it into another location or application.

Undo and Redo : While editing text or content, shake the iPhone to Undo and Redo changes


Photo Shot Tips

Photo Shot
When photo shot, you can hold down the shot button to take photograph background, then click any area of the screen to take the photo.

You can tab Action to select more than one photo to share images via MMS or email.

When transmits MMS, system will determine that you transmit the capacity of picture size whether exceeds MMS capacity upper limit.

Quick Recover Tips

Recover if the iPhone no response
If the iPhone has no responses, simple hold the Home button for 8 seconds, & all applications will be turned off.

If it doesn’t works, try to hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons at the same times for 10 seconds, the iPhone will be rebooted and the apple icon will be shown.

Alarm Tips

When Alarm clock rings, the sleep button is for snooze, while the slide is to turn off the alarm.

SMS Tips

Send SMS
When sending a SMS, you needn’t to wait for SMS being sent, but you can press the home button to do other issue. The SMS is still will be sent normally.

When sending SMS, you need not fill in Subject field once turned on Setting > Messages > Show Subject Field since using a Subject would force the message to be sent by MMS instead of SMS.


Forward or delete individual messages
Tab Edit to select individual messages for Forward or Delete function.


MMS Tips

MMS Usage
Support MMS messaging for the image, voice memo, and contact (iPhone 3G only)

You can enable or disable the MMS messaging function through Setting> Message> MMS messaging.

When you receive a new MMS, you can tab the image or contact to save the contents or tab voice memo to listen.

When sending MMS, it is not necessary to fill in Subject.

If the below alert appears next to the MMS content, you can Tap the alert to attempt to transmit the content again.



Voice Memo Tips

Record And Edit Voice Memo
Voice memos lets you record, playback, trim memo length and edit titles

Voice memos use the Apple Lossless (.m4a) format, and used 2 MB of data capacity for each minute of audio.

Trimming a memo using ‘Trim Memo’ replaces the original memo with the edited version.

When sharing voice memos, an alert would appear to trim the length of the memo to send if the memo exceeds the maximum size for MMS or email. When trimming a memo for MMS or email, the original memo is not overwritten by the edit.

Planet3 Tips

Add Planet3 Shortcut

At iPhone Home Screen adding the "Planet 3" icon:
(1) Open Safari, input "mobile.three.com.hk" & click「+」



(2) Click「Add to Home Screen」after a few seconds, the 3.0 icon appear, click「add」



(3) The Planet3 icon will be added to Home Screen automatically.

Notices of using Wi-Fi

iPhone can be online through Wi-Fi or 3G/GPRS, if both networks are available, iPhone will be preferred Wi-Fi connection, when iPhone connecting to Wi-Fi network, the status bar will show the Wi-Fi icon, if no Wi-Fi network, it then will show the 3G/GPRS icon. If there has Wi-Fi network, the only way to use 3G/GPRS network is to turn off the Wi-Fi of your iPhone.



Settings「Fetch New Data」

When iPhone at the standby mode,handset will base on the「Fetch New Data」Setting to update the data automatically: Example, the weather, stocks, email, etc.& it will count the data charges, if want to extend the battery power, please turn off the fetch new data function.

Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data > Push > Off

Applications at iTunes

(1) Open 'iTunes' at the computer **
(2) Connect the iPhone & computer by USB
(3) Choose iTunes Store
(4) Choose an application for download (input Apple ID is needed #)
(5) Click [Buy]/[Install]  after confirmation
(6) After download,the application will be shown at the 'Application' column, & press ‘Synchronize’ to download the application into iPhone

(1) Choose an application for download on iPhone App Store
(2) Click [Buy]/[Install] after confirmation

- If choosing a chargeable application, a notification will be prompted at iTunes to inform customer that the fee will be charged to his Apple ID’s register credit card.

- Recommend customer to purchase application from computer’s iTunes, and then synchronize to the iPhone. If purchase and download from iPhone’s App Store, download data usage fees will be charged

- To download the application over the size of 10MB, please through computer’s iTunes or iPhone with WiFi to download.

Peer-to-Peer Connectivity

Developers can create applications that offer peer-to-peer connectivity for gaming, information sharing, and other activities. Peer-to-Peer connections do not use Wi-Fi or cellular data networks. Instead, the application automatically negotiates a connection with nearby devices using a Bluetooth connection. You do not need to manually enable Bluetooth and pair to use this feature.

Copy SIM Phone Book to iPhone

Choose「Settings」
Choose「Mail / Contacts / Calendars」
Choose 「Import SIM Contacts」





Reject call at Sleep mode

To reject call when the phone is at Sleep mode, simply press Sleep / Wake button twice, on the top-right of the phone.



Switch to ring and silent mode:
Flip the switch on the left of the phone to the orange spot side, the icon will be shown and can set the phone to silent mode.
